2025 Retreat Information Page

Dear NorCalCMA Retreat Campers!

Some of you have not been receiving our emails, so this page has been made available to provide you with all the latest information. Please check back periodically as it will be updated with any new information (most notably the gate code mentioned later).

The planning committee once again wishes to thank you for registering for the NorCalCMA 2024 Retreat! We wanted to let everyone know what to expect upon arrival!

Happy Valley Conference Center
2159 Branciforte Dr, Santa Cruz, CA 95065

When you arrive at Happy Valley you’ll need a code to enter the gate. Happy Valley has a cautionary tale – there is no cell service so make a note of the code in a note, take a picture, write it on a sticky note, etc. because you won’t be able to pull it up on your phone. The code will be sent out next week so please keep an eye out for it!

Arrival at Happy Valley begins at 4PM, and dinner will be served between 6-7PM.

COVID TESTING:
The facility requires that everyone test negative for COVID upon arrival. When you arrive at Happy Valley there will be volunteers in the parking lot ready with COVID tests. Only the person testing positive will be required to forfeit their weekend and we will not be able to offer a refund for your registration. If you’re traveling to the retreat with other members it is strongly recommended that you all test before leaving to minimize the possibility of testing positive, this is especially important if you’re sharing a ride.

HOUSING:
Next, housing! Rooms and bed assignments are available on a first come, first serve basis (no saving beds please!). You will need to supply your own bedding and towels. Our agreement with Happy Valley is double occupancy so we need at least two campers in each room. While rooms hold anywhere from 4 to 8 campers, we’ll have enough rooms available so that each room won’t need to be occupied by more than 2-3 campers. However if you find yourself in your own room you’ll be asked to move.

A suggested list of items to bring are:
– Bedding (blankets, sheets, conmorters, sleeping bag), pillows, & towels
– Toiletries and personal items
– Medications – refrigeration is available in the main lodge
– Refillable bottle or canteen
– Flashlight or headlamp
– Sunscreen and bug repellent
– Layered clothing for warm days and cool nights
– Hiking shoes & socks
– Earplugs
– Cash for 7Th tradition/donations
– If you are registered for a tent site, please pack accordingly!

RIDES:
While we don’t coordinate rides we can connect those who need a ride with those that can provide rides.

If you need a ride please reply send an email to info@norcalcmaretreat.org and provide your name, contact information and area (San Francisco, Sacramento, etc.). We will forward your contact information to folks in your area who may be able to help. Keep in mind that we’ll be sharing your information with people in your area that have offered a ride, so if you’re not comfortable with that process you may want to reach out personally at your meetings to see if anyone can share a ride with you.

If you can provide a ride, please send an email to info@norcalcmaretreat.org letting us know your name and area.

SERVICE ANIMALS:
The only pets allowed are animals “trained to assist a person in completing a specific task” and that emotional support animals are NOT allowed.

If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to us at info@norcalcmaretreat.org or visit our FAQ at https://norcalcmaretreat.org/faq/.

In service,
The NorCalCMA Retreat Planning Committee
